officially sailing Antarctic waters

Outside it has clearly gotten colder; during the early morning we have crossed the convergence zone. It is in this oceanic boundary, between 20-30 nm wide, that the temperate sub Antarctic waters meet the cold polar waters of Antarctica. As we measure the temperature of the water every 4 hours, we could clearly see it drop, and know exactly when we crossed the convergence. Antarctica can be defined as the waters and landmass South of this front, so we are now officially sailing Antarctic waters. Luckily we have had our Antarctic gear on for days now.
