Traditional Modern times

The other night I was woken for my Dogwatch and while still half a sleep and almost ready for my helming duty, I came on deck and bumped into a crowd listening to Elliot giving a lecture about celestial navigation. He was projecting the constellations onto the Maincourse and used a laserpen to point them out in the bright black sky. No light pollution here, so even the smallest stars are visible. The next night it was cinema time! A stunning old movie about the Pliner Peking rounding Cape Horn 90 years ago, was shown on the maindeck. We even had fresh popcorn on the middle of the ocean. With all this modern media you wouldn’t think that lady Europa is already 105 years old!
